The fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga
The Ashtanga practice is divided into four major parts:
– warming up / preparing the mind
– standing postures
– seated postures
– finishing sequence
After a while of practicing, you no longer need to think while you practice. The concentration deepens and the attention can shift inward into a meditative state.
The true power lies in the repetition of the practice, as yoga is not a one-time miracle cure for anything. Yoga typically reveals its true powers with a regular practice.
In this course we cover the fundamentals of the practice:
– deep breathing
– tristhāna, the 3 places of attention
– concept of vinyāsa: breath and movement coordination
– finding deeper support muscles (bandhas)
– concentration techniques
– inspiring practice philosophy
– sun salutations
– easy standing sequence
– seated and finishing asanas

With regular practice, the body begins to change.
You may notice that:
– your body feels more mobile and less stiff
– tension releases, and more energy, calm, and focus return
Many people describe it as feeling lighter and more alive… and maybe most important: more inspired!

Yoga Students Are Saying
“It helped me create structure in my days and improve my energy.”
-MATHIAS
“Alex’s Ashtanga classes give me a good boost. He explains the poses clearly and keeps the vibe relaxed.
The workouts are tough enough to feel progress but never too much. I also like how he listens to us, he offers easier or harder versions of each pose and has a safe option if your knees (or anything else) need extra care.”
-KIMMO
“My stress-related symptoms have started improving.”

This course is led by Alexander Lemberg, a long term teacher and practitioner.
12+ years teaching experience
6000+ hours of classes
Focus: safe, structured, beginner-friendly teaching
When I started teaching in my late 20:ies, I was lucky that most of my students were about double my own age. I learned to adapt the teaching and the practice to all sorts of body types and different ages.
Having my fair share of knee pain and knee injuries as well, I just love to help all sorts of people finding the joy of the ashtanga practice, and helping developing an effective and safe practice.
Teaching in English (suomi & svenska ok)
