“Use It or Lose It”
Strength, flexibility and balance are qualities that gradually fade if we don’t use our bodies, and they’re things we often take for granted when we’re younger. Sooner or later, however, we realize that the body isn’t quite what it used to be. It can come as a bit of a shock when you no longer are able to stand steadily on one leg, tie your own shoes, or when we have to roll sideways just to get out of bed.
With regular practice, you can ideally develop greater strength and endurance, improve your flexibility and balance, and maintain these qualities as you grow older. In the longer term, regular practice may also contribute to better health, greater self-awareness and better sleep.
Learn a practice – not just follow a class
In Ashtanga Yoga, you gradually learn a structured yoga practice that becomes familiar through repetition.
Instead of always depending on a teacher to tell you what comes next, you begin to know the practice yourself. This gives you more space to focus on your breathing, your body and your attention — and allows the practice to develop over time.
You don’t need previous Ashtanga experience, or to already be flexible or strong. We build the practice step by step, allowing strength and mobility to develop over time.
Ashtanga Yoga – Guided Class
The Ashtanga practice is designed to still the mind through a physical practice, and is divided into four major parts:
– warming up / preparing the mind
– standing postures
– seated postures
– finishing sequence
After a while of practicing, you no longer need to think while you practice, as you will learn a steady pre-set sequence. The concentration deepens and the attention can shift inward into a meditative state.
The true power lies in the repetition of the practice, as yoga is not a one-time miracle cure for anything. Yoga typically reveals its true powers only with a long-term regular practice.
With regular practice, the body & mind begins to change.
You may notice that:
– your body feels more mobile and less stiff
– tension releases, physically and lower stress
– you gain more energy, calm, and focus
Many people describe it as feeling lighter in both body and mind.

Yoga Students Are Saying
“It helped me create structure in my days and improve my energy.”
-MATHIAS
“Alex’s Ashtanga classes give me a good boost. He explains the poses clearly and keeps the vibe relaxed.
The workouts are tough enough to feel progress but never too much. I also like how he listens to us, he offers easier or harder versions of each pose and has a safe option if your knees (or anything else) need extra care.”
-KIMMO
“My stress-related symptoms have started improving.”

12+ years teaching experience

Focus: safe, structured, beginner-friendly teaching, and individualized teaching.
When I started teaching in my late 20:ies, I was lucky that most of my students were about double my own age. I learned to adapt the teaching and the practice to all sorts of body types and different ages.
Having my fair share of knee pain and knee injuries as well, I just love to help all sorts of people finding the joy of the ashtanga practice, and helping developing an effective and safe practice.
