Why short practices?
Short on time, but still want a complete practice?
A 15 or 30 minute practice is an excellent way to maintain your health and happiness. A 2-hour practice left undone will only leave you with guilt and bad health.
In these classes we explore and experiment with ways to shorten the practice while still sticking to the integrity of the ashtanga yoga structure.
Only practicing sun salutations for 15 minutes is great, but for most people not enough to actually stay inspired to stick to the practice.
Different themes
Alex will teach you different short forms focusing on these different themes:
– Back bending
– Forward folding
– Hip opening
– Twisting
– Arm balancing
– Foundations & meditation
We explore ideas that you can take with you into the Mysore practice for further customizing your own practice to fit your lifestyle.
Ashtanga Yoga – The Structure
The Ashtanga practice is designed to still the mind through a physical practice, and is divided into four major parts:
– warming up / preparing the mind
– standing postures
– seated postures
– finishing sequence
Our short form practices will include all of these 4 elements, and consists of asanas from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd series (modified) to create a well rounded practice.

Yoga Students Are Saying
“It helped me create structure in my days and improve my energy.”
-MATHIAS
“Alex’s Ashtanga classes give me a good boost. He explains the poses clearly and keeps the vibe relaxed.
The workouts are tough enough to feel progress but never too much. I also like how he listens to us, he offers easier or harder versions of each pose and has a safe option if your knees (or anything else) need extra care.”
-KIMMO
“My stress-related symptoms have started improving.”

Focus: safe, structured, beginner-friendly teaching
When I started teaching in my late 20:ies, I was lucky that most of my students were about double my own age. I learned to adapt the teaching and the practice to all sorts of body types and different ages.
Having my fair share of knee pain and knee injuries as well, I just love to help all sorts of people finding the joy of the ashtanga practice, and helping developing an effective and safe practice.
Teaching in English (suomi & svenska ok)
